Who Is Responsible for Traffic Fines?
The driver operating the vehicle at the time of an offence is responsible for following Thai traffic regulations.
Under the rental agreement, the renter is responsible for all traffic fines incurred by the renter or any authorised driver during the rental period.
If a Police Officer Issues a Ticket
If the police stop you and issue a traffic ticket:
Obtain the official ticket or payment notice.
Check the vehicle registration number, date, location and type of offence.
Pay the fine using the method and deadline stated in the notice.
Keep the payment confirmation.
Send a photo of the ticket and payment confirmation to Thailand Rent-a-Car.
Do not make a payment without an official document or payment confirmation. If the payment procedure is unclear, contact the manager before paying.

If the Offence Is Recorded by a Camera
Speeding, passing a red light, driving in a restricted lane and other offences may be recorded by traffic cameras.
In this case, the notice may be sent to the registered owner of the vehicle—Thailand Rent-a-Car—rather than directly to the driver.
After receiving the notice, the company will:
Check the date and time of the offence.
Identify the rental agreement under which the vehicle was being used.
Send the renter information about the offence and a copy of the notice.
Provide the amount, deadline and available payment method.
The renter must pay the fine or reimburse Thailand Rent-a-Car within the period stated in the company’s notification.
If the Fine Arrives After the Rental Has Ended
A camera-issued traffic fine may arrive after the vehicle has been returned.
Thailand Rent-a-Car will contact the renter using the telephone number, messaging service or email address provided during booking.
The renter must:
review the information;
pay or reimburse the fine;
provide proof of payment;
comply within the deadline specified by the company.
Returning the vehicle and completing the rental does not release the driver from responsibility for offences committed during the rental period.
Payment Amount and Deadline
The fine must be paid in the amount and by the deadline stated in the official notice or the notification from Thailand Rent-a-Car.
Do not assume that an automatic early-payment or first-offence discount applies in Thailand. The amount depends on the type of offence and the applicable regulations.
Late payment may result in additional expenses or other consequences for the vehicle’s registered owner.
If Thailand Rent-a-Car has to pay the fine, the company may require the renter to reimburse:
the amount of the fine;
documented additional expenses;
an administration fee, if provided for in the rental agreement.
How to Pay a Traffic Fine
Use only:
the payment methods stated in the official notice;
the official Royal Thai Police traffic ticket service;
instructions provided by the Thailand Rent-a-Car manager.
Some payment methods may only be available to the vehicle’s registered owner. In that case, Thailand Rent-a-Car will pay the fine and request reimbursement from the renter.
Do not use suspicious payment links or transfer money to third parties not identified in an official notice or company message.
Proof of Payment
After payment, send a photo or electronic copy of the receipt to:

The confirmation should clearly show:
ticket number;
vehicle registration number;
payment amount;
payment date;
successful payment status.
Keep the original receipt until Thailand Rent-a-Car confirms that the fine has been settled.
If You Disagree With the Fine
Do not ignore the notice or wait until the payment deadline has passed.
Contact the Thailand Rent-a-Car manager and provide a copy of the ticket together with any available evidence:
photos;
videos;
dashboard camera footage;
location and time information;
other relevant documents.
The right and procedure to challenge a fine depend on the type of offence and the authority that issued the ticket. A challenge does not suspend the payment deadline unless this is confirmed by the police or another authorised authority.
Important Information
The renter is responsible for offences committed by the renter and other authorised drivers during the rental period.
Allowing a person who is not listed in the rental agreement to drive does not release the renter from responsibility and may violate the rental and insurance terms.
